Josef Stadler enlisted as a Gefreiter in the 31 of August 1939 in the 3´d companie of the Infanterie.Ers.Btl 316. He rose in ranks and in the end promoted to Feldwebel the 1´st of May 1943. He was Heavy wounded in his right ancle and lost his right foot. Interesting is that Stadler was awarded the Close Combat Clasp in Bronze as the first Soldier in his batalion, he had fullfilled the demands for the Award the 13 of March 1943 and was awarded it at the 6 of January 1944.
