The Order of Glory, modelled closely upon the Tsarist Cross of St. George, was awarded to non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the armed forces, as well as junior lieutenants of the air force, for bravery in the face of the enemy. A person initially received the third degree, and would subsequently be promoted to higher degrees for further acts of bravery.

 

This Award was awarded to Private Antonov Alexei Evstafevich with Order of Glory 3rd class. For Courage and Bravery. December 29, 1944. Alexei was born in 1904, Nationality Russian and served In Red Army from 15.08.1941. Military rank Private with alot of experience and therefor was mortar Commander in 947th Rifle Regiment 268th Rifle Division.

 

 

The order is in good condition with most details well visible. Made of solid silver and weighs about 29 gram. The order is in good condition with signs of age and use. This is what we find in the Russian military archives about this order:

 

 

"During the battles from December 21 - 24 - 1944 and proved himself a fearless commander and, despite the shelling of the enemy, he acted boldly and quickly. With the fire of his mortar, destroyed up to 15 enemy soldiers and officers, successfully supported the advance of our infantry. For courage and bravery  worthy of the award - Order of Glory 3rd class."
