Close Combat Clasp in Bronze, A.G.M.u.K

Close Combat Clasp in Bronze, A.G.M.u.K

The Close Combat Clasp series of awards were introduced on November 25'th 1942 for award to personnel who fought in hand-to-hand combat situations unsupported by armour. Criteria for award of the bronze clasp consisted of fifteen days of hand-to-hand combat

This badge is highly detailed, die struck zink construction clasp. The recessed central Square retains the often missing backing plate. The plate is made of blue toned metal with light Surface rust (there is an discussion going on if the Close combat clasps with a blue colored backing plate was awarded to Luftwaffe ground fighting Soldiers!). If awarded only to Luftwaffe Soldiers or not, the blueish backingplate is more seldom seen compared the black ones.

The reverse has is complete with hinge a broad, tapering pin and catch inset into an oval recess with raised outer edges all intact. The reverse is well marked with the embossed designers name and location, "Fec. W. E. Peekhaus Berlin", and the manufacturers name and location, "AUSF. A.G.M.u.K. GABLONZ". The badge is in very good condition!

Hard to find a better one!!
