Luftwaffe Flight Oberst Service Tunic and Breeches

1,945.00

Private purchase 1935 pattern, Luftwaffe blue tricot cloth tunic. The tunic features a four button front closure with fold back lapels and a lay down collar. The tunic has four, pleated, patch, front pockets with straight edged button down flaps. The straight cut sleeves have deep fold back French cuffs. The tunic has sewn-on shoulder boards of bright silver/aluminum Russian braid and two gilt alloy metal rank pips on golden yellow wool waffenfarbe bases. The collar is trimmed with twisted silver/aluminum cording. The collar has golden yellow wool collar tabs with three hand embroidered rank “gull” and oak-leaf wreath all in bright silver/aluminum wire threads. The collar tabs are also trimmed with twisted silver/aluminum cording and are machine sewn to the collar. The right breast has a hand embroidered Luftwaffe officers national eagle in bright silver/aluminum wire threads on a cut-out blue/grey wool base. The eagle is neatly handstitched to the tunic. Original award loops for four badges on the left chest pocket and award loops sewn for most likely a flight clasp above the same pocket. There is also award loops sewn to the right chest pocket, most likely a Spanish or German cross. The buttons are all the bright, silver washed, pebbled magnetic sheet metal type and appear to have their original stitching.

The interior of the tunic is fully lined in grey rayon with pyjama striped sleeves. There is a name label hand sewn inside the left inmner pocket but unfortunately close to impossible to read. The tunic shows more wear to the inside compared to the outside as often seen on senior officer grade tunics. There is a couple of smaller wear holes to the lining. Outside with some wear marks and a small wear hole to the top edge of the collar. All in all a used tunic in still very good condition.

The tunic comes with a pair of good matching breeches. The breeches are complete with all buttons and tie strings still intact. The breeches match the tunic perfectly in condition and show more signs of wear to the inside. Outside is clean and without any holes or mendings.

A super nice matching set to a well decorated Flight Oberst!!
