Luftwaffe Pilots Badge Maker Marked A

The Luftwaffe Pilots Badge was instituted by Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring on August 12, 1935. It was among the earliest badges introduced in the German Wehrmacht, and was worn by all qualified pilots in the German Air Force. Pilots badges were made of aluminum, nickel silver, plated Tombak, and Zinc.

This is a mid/late war produced example made of zinc. The eagle still retains most of the blackening while the oakleaf wreath only has hints of silver paint still intact. On the reverse of the eagle, there is a stamp in the form of the logo of the Assmann & Söhne factory. The badge is in very good condition with intact and functional hinge, pin and catch.

Well preserved mid or late war produced example!!
