Norwegian SS Front Soldiers "Frontkjemper" Badge

$1,399.55

This award was designed by Harald Damsleth and was manufactured in zinc in Norway and sold to those Norwegian SS volunteer members who had lost their badge. The award was instituted in October 1943 by Vidkum Quisling and was awarded to all Norwegian military personnel who saw active service on the eastern front. Recent documents discovered in the Norwegian Archieves show that these zinc badges were produced in 1945. Head of the Front Fighters Office ordered 2000 Front Fighters Badges in zinc in order to distribute them to the members who had lost their badges due to different reasons as stock of the silver badges were now unavailable. Most of these awards was taken and destroyed after the war.

This badge is constructed of high quality Zinc with brass pin and complete hinge and hook. It’s a textbook example of this award, in extremely fine condition.

These are extremely rare considering only 2000 was ordered and many was destroyed after the war!!
