1,095.00

The Spanish Civil War lasted not quite three years. July 1936 to March 1939. It was the massive aid provided Franco by Germany and Italy that largely accounted fir this ultimate victory iver the communists. On April 1939 Hitler instituted an award to recognize the bravery of the men and also to serve as a campaign distinction. The award was rendered in six grades (with and without swords in gold, silver and bronze) in total: 26 116. Bronze award with swords was awarded only to 8 462 soldiers and officers.

The medal is made of die struck Tombak with a bronze paint wash. Reverse with broad, tapering pin, solid soldered hinge and heavy soldered catch assembly all intact. The reverse is maker marked stamped “L/13” for “Paul Meybauer, Berlin”. The cross is in good condition with most of the bronze paint still intact. The cross also shows a very nice age patina.

Rare award which is maker marked and in good condition!!
