Police NCO's M43 Field Cap

Police green wool construction cap features fold down back and side panels and two small, field-grey painted metal closure buttons to the front center. The back and side panels were designed to be folded down to protect the wearers ears and neck and the scalloped front section could be secured with the buttons closed under the wearers chin. The front center of the cap has machine woven cockade and a police eagle all in silver/white rayon threads on black rayon base. Eagle is original machine sewn to the cap. The cap has an extended, cloth covered visor with a subtly raised lip to the top of the forward edge. The interior of the cap is fully lined in silver/grey rayon. The cap shows light nap wear to all exposed parts and there is one small moth hole to the right side. Inside lining in good, still used condition with some sweat/grease soiling. Inside is marked with rb number, year of production: 1944 and a very faint size number. Cap size is about 56. All in all a used cap in still good condition.
