Waffen-SS Der Führer Infantry Rottenführer M41 Combat Tunic

Field-grey wool construction field blouse features a five button front closure with a single metal hook and eye at the neckline. Three hole, issue SS tunic which clearly is seen by the way the lining was cut.  The tunic has four pleated patch, front pockets with scalloped edged button down flaps. Slipped and buttoned in place to each shoulder is a Waffen-SS infantry shoulder straps with white rayon piping. Right hand collar with W-SS runic collar tab, neatly hand sewn in place. Left side with a Rottenführer’s rank tab, also neatly hand sewn in place. Left upper sleeve has a rare, early “hammer head” style Waffen-SS sleeve eagle machine sewn in place. Below the eagle is a rank chevron for the rank “Rottenführer”. Further down the same sleeve is a RzM type “Der Führer” cuff title neatly hand sewn in place. Inside is lined with silver/grey rayon lining. Left breast pocket has award loops for two awards and in the second button hole is a ribbon sewn for a 1939 Iron Cross  Second Class. The lining is stamped with manufacturers name and location “Mayerhofer Munich”, also dated “1942” and sized stamped.

The tunic shows heavy nap wear, age and usage toning through-out. Well used condition with one “L” shaped mending located below the rank chevron. The repair is about 5cm (hardly noticable). Lining with a couple of smaller wear holes and the back was sewn in a couple of centimeters for a better look. This tunic was earlier sold by the well known dealer Martin Styles.
