On 16 May 1933 the Silesian Eagle was recognized as an official award, authorized to be worn and manufactured throughout the entire period of the Third Reich. The Silesian eagle was instituted 16 June 1919 vy the commander of the VI Armby Corps, Generalleutnant von Friedeburg.

 

This is a first Class Silesian Medal, made of a Tombak. The black Silesian Eagle retains nearly all of its original dull black finish, with only light wear. The half-moon and cross, and the “Für Schlesien” (For Silesia) banner retains about 95% of the original silvering . The reverse of the badge retains 99% of the original black finish. The hardware is intact and functional. The badge is in very good condition with light signs of age and use.
