Heer Gebirgsjäger Officer's M43 Field Cap

Field-grey cloth construction cap features fold down back and side panels with two pebbled metal button front closure. The back and side panels were designed to be folded down to protect the wearers ears and neck and the scalloped front section could be secured with the buttons closed under the wearers chin. The front center of the cap has a machine woven, flatwire officer’s M43 national eagle machine sewn in place. Around the caps crown is officers metal cord. The cap has an extended, cloth covered, forward visor. Left side has a gebirgsjäger metal insignia neatly hand sewn in place. The interior of the cap is fully lined in silver/grey rayon. The lining has a very faint size Rbnr and size of the cap is 57. This means the cap was bought through the Kleider Kasse system. Pretty rare to find! Cap is in a well worn condition with nap wear to all exposed parts. Insignia shows even and matching wear to the rest of the cap. Lining shows signs of wear and some soiling.
