Heer Infantry Officer Candidate M36 Field Tunic

Early field-grey wool tunic with dark-green cloth collar. The tunic features a five button front closure with a singel metal hook and eye at the neck. The tunic has four pleated front pockets with scalloped button down flaps. Heer general issue collar tab’s, dark-green cloth, period machine sewn in place. Slip-on shoulder straps constructed of bottle green wool with bright silver/aluminum tresse and white wool piping. The shoulder straps have two loops of silver tresse slipped in place, denoting officer candidate status. Above right breast pocket is a EM/NCO’s national eagle in pale white threads on dark green rayon backing. The eagle is machine sewn with folded upper edge, and rest is neatly hand sewn (correct way of application for a tunic manufactured 1940). To the left chest pocket is loops sewn for two awards and above the pocket is loops sewn for short ribbon bar.

 

The tunic is lined with with three different types of grey/beige cotton cloth. The lining is clearly size stamped in black ink. Below the size stamps is an additional stamp in black ink “B 40” for “Berlin 1940”. The intact medic pocket is maker marked stamped.

 

The tunic shows signs of age and real use. There is some areas of lighter wear, some moth bites and a couple of pinhead sized holes. The back has been sewn-in a couple of centimeters for a better fit. All in all a used tunic in still good condition.

 

Desirable Infantry NCO tunic in a very nice used condition!!
