Heer Sonderführer Officer's Visor Cap

675.00

The Army Mobilization Order of March 12’th 1937 established a group of Sonderführer (Specialist Leaders) formed from personnel with specialized knowledge and/or skills to perform specific tasks that regular military personnel were unable to fulfill. Originally the Sonderführers wore the standard army uniform and headgear befitting their position/rank with the appropriate identifying, waffenfarbe, (Branch of Service Color), which was generally displayed as piping on the visor cap. Regulations of July 1941 altered the waffenfarbe color of all Sonderführers to blue/grey and included altering the standard blue/green visor cap centerband color.

Late war officer’s visor cap, field-grey boiled-wool construction body and crown, a grey wool centerband and grey wool branch color piping to the top crown edge and both the top and bottom edges of the centerband. High quality, silver painted metal national eagle and wreath / cockade. The cap has a bright, twisted, silver/aluminum chin cord secured in place by two, silver washed sheet metal buttons. The cap has a black lacquered vulcanfibre visor with a subtly raised lip to the forward edge. The interior centerband material is constructed of “ersatz” material (pressed paper). Inside is fully lined in golden yellow rayon. The interior crown lining has a clear celluloid sweat diamond which is all intact. Maker marked and size marked “58”. The cap shows clear signs of real use, cap body with a couple of smaller holes, see pictures!. Sweatband is all intact and shows clear signs of use.

Hard branch of service to find and all in all a very decent late war example!!
