Adolf Hitler restored the Iron Cross in 1939 as a German decoration / bravery award and continued the tradition of issuing it in various classes. The Iron Cross was awarded for bravery in battle as well as other military contributions in a battlefield environment.

 

This is a Iron Cross Second Class 1939. Standard issue three piece construction cross with magnetic Iron core. The black Iron core has virtually all of the black paint intact. The cross is complete with intact medal ring, suspension ring and long medal ribbon. The suspension ring is maker marked “65” for “Klein & Quenzer A.G. Idar-Oberstein a.d. Nahe”. The cross is in very good condition with minor signs of age.
