Kriegsmarine Botswain Obermaat's Pea Jacket

Dark blue wool construction, double breasted style jacket with fold back peak lapels and a lay down collar. Jacket features two rows of five front closure buttons. Jacket has two slash front hip pockets with straight edged flaps. Right breast has a very nice hand embroidered, national eagle in golden yellow bullion on a cut-out navy blue wool base. The eagle is neatly hand sewn to the jacket. Sleeves have straight cut non-adjustable cuffs. The upper left sleeve has a specialty insignia a gilt metal anchor with a rope denoting “boatswain”. The oval navy blue wool base is neatly hand sewn to the sleeve. The forward edge of the collar is trimmed in gilt wire, NCO’s rank tress and has blue wool collar tabs with a strip of  NCO’s rank tress. Tress signifies the rank of Obermaat. Collar tress and tabs are machine stitched to the jacket. To the left chest area is loops sewn for two awards. All the buttons are the fire gilted alloy type with embossed anchor and appear to have their original stitching. The interior of jacket is lined in sleeves. Inside neck, in machine sewn chain stitching: “O 1617 39  S”. Which means, the personal roster number indicates owner was the 1617 person inducted into the navy in 1939, and was assigned to the Baltic Sea. The jacket was war time, skillfully repaired to the inside collar with a piece of rayon cloth was hand sewn in place. Besides that no holes, reps tears or mendings only signs of real use.

 

A super nice, untouched pea jacket in good still well used condition!!
