Luftwaffe Flak Artillery Obergefreiter's Service Tunic

High quality, 1935 pattern Luftwaffe blue/grey, wool construction tunic. Four button front closure with small, fold back, lapels and a lay down collar. The tunic has four pleated, front pockets with straight edged button down flaps. The right breast has a machine embroidered second pattern EM/NCO’s Luftwaffe eagle in silver/grey cotton threads on a Luftwaffe blue/grey wool base. The eagle is neatly handstitched to the tunic. The non-adjustable sleeves have deep French cuffs. The tunic has sewn on shoulder straps in Luftwaffe blue/grey wool with bright red wool branch color piping. The forward edge of the lay down collar is piped in red cording. The collar has red collar tabs with three alloy metal rank “gulls” to each. There two holes located to the left chest pocket for one award pin to pass through. To the upper left sleeve is a obergefreiters rank chevron neatly hand sewn in place.

 

The interior of the tunic is fully lined in grey cotton twill. The left breast lining is well marked with black size inkstamps, the manufacturer’s name and “L.B.A. (S) 39” indicating, Luftwaffenbekleidungsamt 1939 (Air-Force Clothing Depot 1939). The buttons are all the bright, silver washed, pebbled alloy type and most appear to have their original stitching.

 

The tunic is in a very well preserved condition with light signs of age and use. The cloth shows light nap wear and there is one small hole located to the left shoulder, the hole is about 0,5cm.
