Parade Mounted Combatants Cross of Honor 1914/1918

 

Instituted in July of 1934 by von Hindenburg to recognize service in WWI. It ranked beneath bravery awards but above other service and campaign awards.

 

Die struck, magnetic sheet metal award with a bronze wash. The cross has swords emanating upwards between its arms, indicating a combatant’s award. The cross has a plain reverse with embossed maker mark. The cross’s ribbon suspension loop and ring are both intact. The cross is parade mounted, the ribbon is attached to a piece of wood. Reverse has had a safety pin sewn in place. The medal is also hand sewn with the medal ring attached to the ribbon.
