Silesian Eagle First Class

On 16 May 1933 the Silesian Eagle was recognized as an official award, authorized to be worn and manufactured throughout the entire period of the Third Reich. The Silesian eagle was instituted 16 June 1919 by the commander of the VI Armby Corps, Generalleutnant von Friedeburg.

 

This is a first Class Silesian Medal, made of a Tombak. Three piece construction (higher quality private purchase type). The black Silesian Eagle has intact black enamel. The half-moon and cross, and the “Für Schlesien” (For Silesia) banner retains about 98% of the original silvering. Both moon and banner is attached with 2 rivets which are visable to the reverse. The reverse of the badge retains 99% of the original silver finish. The hardware is intact and functional. The badge is in very good condition with light signs of age and use.
