SS Officer's Honor Sword by Krebs

The SS-Ehrendegen or SS Honor Sword, also SS-Degen (officially Ehrendegen des Reichsführers SS) is a straight dress sword that was worn with an SS uniform from 1935 to 1945. The officer’s sword was officially awarded with a hand-signed certificate from Heinrich Himmler to selected officers of the SS-Verfügungstruppe and SS-Totenkopfverbände in recognition of special merit. It was also awarded to officers who graduated from the SS-Junker Schools, the SS officer training centres.

This SS Officer sword for sale made by Krebs, Solingen. The sword is typical later, 1930’s manufacture with nickel-silver fittings throughout. The SS officer sword with a black-painted wooden grip, highlighted with 13 metal bands. The silver metal Runes disc fitting perfectly to the centre, within the bands. Typical SS style pommel cap. The underside to the hilt detailing the SS Rune symbol within an octagon shape.

84cm blade in polished steel, and bearing the later Pet.Dan Krebs name and trademark. A white leather washer still in position. The scabbard with black painted shell. The nickel-silver top mount bearing the SS Rune symbol within an octagon shape. The bottom nickel-silver plated fitting correctly pressed into position.

The sword remains in overall very good condition. The nickle-silver fittings uncleaned and now with a nice age patina. The black painted grip with 99% of the black paint still intact. The scabbard shell with a small amount of black paint loss from wear. There is some age cracking and minor pitting though on the scabbard but no dents. The white leather hilt to blade washer in good order. The blade in excellent condition, with most original polished steel finish being free from any pitting or graying.

The sword comes complete with a SS-Officer’s sword portepee, constructed of silvery/ aluminium flat and twisted wires; the head in multiple rows of twisted wires, with the centre of the head in loops of embroidery. The stem is embroidered with a SS logo embroidered into it using black threading. The portepee match the sword perfectly in condition with light signs of age and use.

Scarce and desirable SS officer sword in used still very good condition. Don’t miss out on this one!!
