Textbook WWII Cased bronze star with intact ribbon with “V” metal device for “Valor”. Reverse with engraved name “Vernon J. Burick” to the reverse. The medal comes with a bronze star boutonniere. In period case with signs of storage wear.

 

“Vernon J. Burdick received the bronze star with “V” for valor posthumostly for his brave actions during the extremely hard fighting during the battle of Okinawa. 1945 May the 13th, troops of the 1’st and 6’th marine divisions fought for “Suger Loaf Hill”. The capture of these two key positions exposed the Japanese around the city Shuri on both sides. A battle of great tactical importance, during the battle’s Burdick distinguished himself but was killed in action.”
