Waffen-SS Assault Artillery (STUG) Sturmmann's Wrapper

On September 1st 1941 the Waffen-SS officially adopted the field-grey assault artillery uniform with minor construction modifications.

Mid-war field-grey, wool, SS cut, waist length, double breasted style tunic with a fold back lapels and a lay down collar. The right side collar has a Waffen-SS EM/NCO’s runic collar tab machine sewn in place. Right side collar has a rank tab with a singel rank stripe sewn in place. The rank tab is also machine sewn in place. To the shoulders are black wool shoulder straps with red rayon branch color piping slided and buttoned in place. To the left upper sleeve is a Waffen-SS EM/NCO’s national eagle machine sewn in place. Below the national eagle is a Sturmann’s rank chevron neatly hand sewn in place. To the left chest area is award loops sewn for a medal. The right front closure panel has all four large and all three smaller, corresponding buttons intact. The tunic also has a single metal hook and eye positioned at the forward neckline for a secure closure. The tunic is the SS pattern with no central seam to the reverse. The straight cut sleeve cuffs each have a single button eyelet and dual, corresponding, fit adjustment buttons to each. The lay down collar has the typical zig-zag reinforcement stitching to the reverse. The interior front panels of the tunic are lined in grey cotton/rayon. The interior side seams each have the vertical belt support hook straps still intact. The interior waistline has tunnel looped, grey colored drawstrings for fit adjustment. Inside is lined with both grey brushed cotton and two different types of rayon. Inside left chest is clearly maker mark code stamped as well as size stamped. The wrapper is in good, still well used condition. There is signs of real use especially to the collar and cuffs as we like to see. The tunic shows age and dirt fading to exposed parts as well as partly to the lining.
