Waffen-SS Issue M40 Field Tunic
€1,995.00
Field-grey wool construction field blouse features a five button front closure with a single metal hook and eye at the neckline. The tunic has four pleated patch, front pockets with scalloped edged button down flaps (m40) with war time added green collar. The collar shows old stitch holes and threads from both Heer EM/NCO’s collar tabs and Waffen-SS. Over the right breast is a shadow and stitch holes from a previous sewn Heer national eagle. The breast eagle was machine sewn through the lining which clearly indicates the eagle was sewn later in this case most likely after the war. The left sleeve shows clear shadows from both a Waffen-SS sleeve eagle and a cufftitle. The tunic has four sets of three stitched eyelets with one set situated at either side of the front closure and two to either side of the back panel at the waistline. The eyelets were designed for the belt support hooks. The shoulder straps cloth retaining loops and buttons are all intact. Co
The interior of the field blouse is lined in silver/grey rayon. The right front tail skirt lining has the original field dressing pocket. The war time original manufacturers name and size stamps are still clearly visable to the inside right lapel. To the inside neck is a later added label which reads “KOSTÜMHAUS HELLER, MÜNCHEN 22 – THIERSCHSTRASSE 34”. Inside is also stamped with the same name, location and a number which most likely is a inventory number. The field blouse shows heavy nap wear, age and usage toning through-out. There is one small wear holes. Besides that no rips or mendings.
This tunic was used by a SS soldier during the war and stripped from it’s insignias. Heer insignias was later added by “Kostümhaus Heller”. The tailor label which is not supposed to be in a issue tunic was then also added as well as the “Kostümhaus Heller” ink stamp. Most likely was “Heller” a tailor for movie/theater prop. The Heer eagle and collar tab now only shows a light age shadow, SS insignias is clearly seen as well as the field grey nap. A clear indicator the SS insignias was sewn to the tunic when it was heavily used.
A rare chance to buy a issue SS tunic for a reasonable price!!
