Coastal Artillery EM/NCO's Side Cap

The cap is made of field-grey wool with fold down side and back panels. The front center of the cap has a machine woven EM/NCO’s national eagle in golden yellow threads on a cut-out dark green rayon base. The front center of the fold down panels has a machine woven national tri-color cockade on dark green rayon base. Both pieces of insignia are original to the cap and machine sewn in place. A golden yellow soutache is machine sewn as well as inserted to two small holes located at the bottom edge (correct way of application!).

The interior of the cap is fully lined in purple/blue colored rayon cloth. The lining is well marked with manufacturers name and location as well as size “56” and year of production “1940”. All in white ink. The cap is in very good condition with light chafe wear and nap loss to exposed parts. The cap appears to be un-worn.
