Heer Armored Artillery EM/NCO's M34 Overseas Cap

£1,951.46

Black wool construction cap with fold down side and back panels with gently sloping, downward scallops to the front and forward sides. As is typical, the fold down panels are handstitched in the upright position at the front center of the cap. The cap has a black metal ventilation grommet positioned to either side, positioned just below the crown edge. The front center of the cap has a machine woven national eagle on a cut-out, woven dark green rayon base. The front center of the fold down panels has a machine woven national tri-color cockade, on dark green rayon, diamond shaped base. Both the eagle and the cockade are neatly handsewn to the cap (correct way of application for a early cap like this). The cap also has inverted red rayon soutache flanking the cockade indicating service with the Armored Artillery. The soutache has been applied in the correct manner, being machine stitched in place and inserted through two small puncture holes near the bottom edge of the cap. The interior of the cap is fully lined in grey cotton. Inside is clearly marked with manufacturers name and location, year of production “1940” and size “56” all stamped in black ink. The cap is in very good, but still used condition. There is a period safety pin, pinned in place for a smart look. No holes, rips or mendings, just light signs of age and use.

Scarce and desirable cap, even harder to find a overseas cap for Armored Artillery compared to (pink) panzer. This one is also in a very nice condition!!
