Coastal Artillery EM/NCO's Side Cap

Kriegsmarine cut, field-grey-green wool construction cap features fold down side and back panels with gently sloping, downward scallops to the front and forward sides. The front center of the cap has a machine woven national eagle in golden yellow rayon threads, mounted on a grey/green rayon base. The front center of the fold down panels has a machine woven, national tri-color cockade, in black white and red rayon threads on a woven green/grey rayon base. Both eagle and cockade is neatly hand sewn in place. Also to front is a golden yellow rayon soutache, hand sewn in place as well as inserted through two puncture holes (one at each side). The interior of the cap is fully lined in blue colored drill cloth. The lining is well marked with clear RBnr, followed by month and year of production “5/43” for May 1943. And lastly “55” which is the size of the cap. All stamped in white ink.

The cap is in very good condition with slight age fading to all exposed parts. Inside looks more or less un-worn.
