Combatants Cross of Honor 1914/1918

Instituted in July of 1934 by von Hindenburg to recognize service in WWI. It ranked beneath bravery awards but above other service and campaign awards.

Die struck, magnetic sheet metal award with a bronze wash. The cross has swords emanating upwards between its arms, indicating a combatant’s award. The cross has a plain reverse with embossed manufacturer’s initials “N. & H.”. The cross’s ribbon suspension loop and ring are both intact. Cross comes complete with a piece of original original ribbon. To the ribbon is a metal device attached. The device concists of two crossed swords, attached with two pins pinned through the ribbon. The medal is maker marked A&S to the reverse. The medal is in very good condition with just minor signs of age.

Very nice exampel with rather scarce ribbon device!!
