Heer General's M38 Overseas Cap

Constructed of high quality field-grey doeskin cloth. Fold down side and back panels with scalloped slopes to the forward side panels. The crown edge and the forward scalloped side panels are both piped in gilt braiding. The front center of the cap has a hand embroidered general’s national eagle in golden bullion threads on a cut-out bottle green wool base. The eagle is neatly handstitched to the cap. The front center of the fold down panels has a hand national tri-color cockade with gilt wire. The cockade is also neatly handstitched to the cap. The cockade is flanked by a golden soutache in an inverted “V” pattern. The soutache is applied in the proper manner being machine sewn in place and inserted through small puncture holes at the seam near the bottom edge of the cap. Inside is lined with silver/grey rayon cloth. Inside also with a intact partial sweatband. Cap is roughly a size 57. The cap shows clear signs of real use with color darkening to all exposed parts. Inside also shows color darkening to all exposed parts from grease, hair, fat, sweat and old hair products. All as expected to find from a well used cap. Exterior of the cap shows very light moth tracking to a couple of places.

Very rare General’s m38 cap, the cap is also in a very nicely worn condition!!
