Heer General's M38 Overseas Cap

The cap is produced of fine field grey wool that retains strong original color without major signs of age. The upper edging is piped in gold braid piping. The braid shows wear to one side of the cap. The front of the cap has a gold bullion Heer generals national eagle, which is neatly hand sewn in place. A bullion cockade  with golden wire is period hand sewn to the front of the cap. The cockade is flanked by a gold colored inverted “V” soutache. The soutache is neatly hand sewn in place as well as inserted in two small puncture holes. Two grey painted grommet vents can be seen on both sides of the cap, and both retain all of their original paint. Inside is lined with silver/green rayon cloth, with light patina from use. The forehead area has a partial leather sweatband that is complete with evidence of light wear. The cap shows signs of age and real use and both insignias and piping shows a rather heavy age patina.
