Heer Jäger EM/NCO's M43 Field Cap

Field-grey wool construction cap features fold down back and side panels with two grey painted pebbled metal button front closure. The back and side panels were designed to be folded down to protect the wearers ears and neck and the scalloped front section could be secured with the buttons closed under the wearers chin. The front center of the cap has a machine woven M44 trapezoid style national eagle factory machine sewn in place. The cap has an extended, cloth covered, forward visor with exposed cardboard internal stiffener with a subtly raised lip to the top of the forward edge. To the left side is a jäger troopers metal insignia pinned in place. The interior of the cap is fully lined in grey cotton. The lining has well marked with black ink: RBNr (factory code), “1944” (which means the cap was produced 1944. And last “57” which is the size of the cap. The cap shows clear signs of real use with color fading from use and dirt to all exposed parts. Inside shows signs of wear. No holes, tears or mendings.
