Heer Panzer Unteroffizier's M36 Field Tunic

Early field-grey wool tunic with dark-green cloth collar. The tunic features a five button front closure with a singel metal hook and eye at the neck. The tunic has four pleated front pockets with scalloped button down flaps. Early heer collar tab’s, dark-green cloth with pink center stripes machine sewn in place. Slip-on shoulder straps constructed of bottle green wool with bright silver/aluminum tresse and pink rayon piping. Above right breast pocket is a EM/NCO’s national eagle in white threads on dark green rayon backing. The eagle is neatly hand sewn in place (correct for a early tunic like this!). To the second button hole is a Iron cross second class ribbon hand sewn in place. To the left chest pocket is loops sewn for two awards and above the pocket is loops sewn for a 3-4 place ribbon bar or for a close combat clasp. To the lower right sleeve is a motor transport trade badge hans sewn in place and to the right sleeve is a drivers badge in bronze also hand sewn in place.

 

The tunic is lined with mustard colored drill cotton cloth. The lining is clearly size and maker marked stamped in black ink. The tunic has been shortened to better fit this unteroffizier. Now visable is only one belt hook hole and the medic pocket is also shortened. Sleeves has also been shortened in a period, professional way, see pictures!

 

The tunic shows clear signs of age and real use. Outside with almost all nap wear gone and there is a couple of minor wear holes located to the sleeves.

 

This Panzer unteroffizier’s was clearly a gifted driver and was well awarded for his skills both as a transport driver but also in combat!!
