Iron Cross First Class 1939 Maker Marked L54, Screw Back with Case of Issue

1939 pattern, die struck, three piece, Iron and silver alloy construction Pattée style cross with a single piece iron core and a two piece silver alloy frame. The reverse with a screw-back and a pin on the twelve o’clock arm and marked with manufacturer’s LDO code, “L54”, indicating manufacture by “Schauerte & Höhfeld of Lüdenscheid”. The cross is in good condition with light signs of age.

 

The cross comes housed in its original LDO case of issue, constructed of constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior. The interior with a white LDO embossed rayon lid liner, the hinge cover intact, with a recessed medal bed to accommodate the screw-back. The box is in good condition with light chafe wear.
