Jagdgeschwader 51 (Mölders) was a German fighter wing during World War II. JG 51’s pilots won more awards than any other fighter wing of the Luftwaffe, and operated in all major theatres of war. Its members included Anton Hafner, Heinz Bär, Karl-Gottfried Nordmann, and Günther Schack.
Highest quality, private purchase 1935 pattern Luftwaffe blue tricot cloth tunic. The tunic features a four button front closure with fold back lapels and a lay down collar. The tunic has four, pleated, patch, front pockets with straight edged button down flaps. The straight cut sleeves have deep fold back French cuffs. The tunic has sewn-on shoulder boards of Luftwaffe tricot cloth and two silver washed alloy metal rank pips and yellow rayon piping. The collar is trimmed with twisted yellow braid. The collar has golden yellow wool collar tabs with four metal rank “gull’s” pinned in place. The collar tabs are machine sewn to the collar. The right breast has a Luftwaffe EM/NCO’s second type breast eagle neatly hand sewn in place. Just above the right french cuff is a “Jagdgeschwader Mölders” EM/NCO’s cufftitle neatly hand sewn in place. Award loops for two badges on the left chest pocket and award loops sewn for most likely a flight clasp above the same pocket. The buttons are all the bright, silver washed, pebbled non ferrous metal. All buttons are marked from the same manufacturer and appear to have their original stitching.
The interior of the tunic is fully lined in blue/grey rayon with pyjama striped sleeves. The tunic is in very good condition with minor signs of age and use. There is a couple of wear spots to both sleeves and also to the back.
Highest quality private purchased tunic for a well decorated Oberfeldwebel serving in JG 51, it will be very hard to find a better one on todays market!!
