Reichs Firebrigade Honor Badge, Maker Marked M9/72 W. Kolwitz

The Fire Brigade honor Decoration was introduced on 22 December 1936 by the Minister of the Interior and was to reward those who had performed acts of exceptional meritorious service and included acts of bravery at fires. A First Class award was automatically bestowed upon a fireman who lost his life in the line of duty.

 

Constructed of alloy metal with red, white and black enamel. The enamel is intact. Reverse with manufacturers name in high relief: “W Kolwitz, Bergedorf”. Above the missing catch is the RzM number “M9/72” also in high relief. Hinge and pin intact, catch is sadly broken. The badge shows signs of age and use.

 

Really scarce decoration to find in any condition!!
