Awarded to Corporal Prokofiev Ivan Nikolaevich for Courage, October 8, 1944.

Ivan Nikolaevich was born in 1922, Nationality russian. In Red Army from 06.1941. Military rank Corporal serving in 345th Rifle Regiment of 27th Rifle Division.

 

 

The Medal for Courage was awarded for personal courage and valour displayed in defending the socialist motherland during the performance of military duties, for “acts of bravery during a battle, during the defence of the state borders or during military duties associated with risk to life”

 

The medal is in good used condition with light signs of use and wear. Most details are well visible. Made of solid silver and weighs 29 gram. Serial clearly visable to the reverse. It reads: 2207731

This is what we find in the Russian military archives about this medal:

 

 

“The radio operator of the communications company, corporal Prokofiev Ivan Nikolaevich, for the timely provision of communications to the regiment’s units. 345th Infantry Regiment by order 037 of 18.10.44 was awarded the Medal for Courage. Comrade Prokofiev participating in offensive battles from March 6 to March 15, 1945 and being in a rifle battalion under enemy fire, uninterruptedly provided radio communications between the battalion command and the regiment command. Corporal Ivan Prokofiev was also awarded with other rewards and medals.”
