Waffen-SS Infantry Obersturmführer's Combat Field Tunic

$7,559.71

In early 1942 a modified drill tunic was introduced for wear as a summer combat field blouse, and followed the basic modifications of the standard issue field blouse through-out the war.

Mid-war cotton field tunic with an HBT weave, features six button, front closure with a single metal hook and eye positioned at the forward neckline. The field blouse has four, non-pleated front pockets with scalloped edged button down flaps. The collar was war-time retailored, adding a bottle green collar for a better look. Machine sewn to the right side is a Waffen-SS officers runic collar tab. The collar tab is made of black cloth with bright silver bullion “SS” runics and twisted officers metal cord to the edges. Left side tab with rank tab, constructed of black cloth with three silver washed rank pips and one silver and black rank stripe, also with metal cord to the edges. Both rank and runic collar tabs is machine sewn in place. To each shoulder is a sew in shoulder board sewn in place. The boards are made of dull russian braid on black cloth with white rayon branch color piping. To the left sleeve is a Waffen-SS officers flat wire eagle machine sewn in place. To the left chest pocket is award loops sewn for two awards and above the same pocket is award loops sewn for either a longer ribbon bar or for a close combat clasp. The tunic shows clear signs of real use. There is a couple of smaller wear holes (see pictures), smaller stains and wear / age discoloration to all exposed parts. All insignias match perfectly in condition with light oxidation and wear spots (very hard to show on pictures!). The left chest has no signs of a previous breast eagle, which would be clearly seen on a heavy used tunic like this. The green collar also shows clear signs of real use. There is wear marks, dirt and possibly nap loss because of moths. End of sleeves shows rather heavy fraying from use.

HBT tunics like this was issued mainly to the Heer, but photo evidence clearly shows they was popular and worn by SS soldiers, including officers. There is plenty of war time pictures on the internet picturing tunics more or less exactly like this one with green collar. Never the less, this tunic speak for itself. A trained eye can clearly see this tunic is completely untouched since the war and used by a SS officer and never by a Heer solider!.

Finally a combat worn SS officer’s tunic. Just think if this one could speak!!
