WWII Japanese Army Type 90 Helmet

995.00

The helmet was recently discovered out of the woodwork and the postwar storage condition caused superficial rust to spread over the shell. However, fortunately, the rust remains on the surface and the shell shows no signs of inner corrosion. So, despite the rusty look, the helmet is, in fact, in good solid condition.

Indeed, the helmet is only moderately used and all complete. Particularly, the leather liner is in good condition with all the flaps undamaged and all the three cushions on the back of the flaps are present. The string connecting each flap is also present and the chinstrap is intact and in full length. The date stamp is faint and illegible but the helmet appears a typical late war example (which was probably manufactured in 1943 or 1944) with a distinctive brush stroke of olive-green paint around the shell (very hard to find!). It is large-sized, as indicated by a hand-painted kanji (“大”) meaning “large” located at the back of the inner edge of the shell.

A scarce “one-look original” example in good size with camo paint!!
