Named Japanese WWII Army Instructor's Type 60 Combat Helmet
€1,195.00
The helmet is worn but still in excellent condition. 95% of the tan color paint remains on the shell which shows some signs of light field use. However, the liner is clean and undamaged. It is complete with cushions and the inner strings. However, one end of the chinstrap is about one inch shortened but still long enough to tie under the chin. The date stamp clearly shows the year 1940. Size is “large” and the marking (“大”) is clearly inscribed on the rear inner edge of the shell.
The original owner’s sir name “Iwamoto” (“岩本”) is hand-written in white paint on the front inner edge of the shell, along with a kanji “教” meaning “instructor”. This helmet recently surfaced in Okayama Prefecture where Army 17th Division headquarters were located. The 17th Division is noted in its brave combat history and fought in battles of Wuhan (in China) and New Britain (in the Solomons) . The division was sieged in Rabaul but never surrendered until the end of the war.
An awesome-looking named combat helmet in great condition. The helmet was just recently discovered and Japan and has never been in a collection before!!
