Adolf Hitler restored the Iron Cross in 1939 as a German decoration / bravery award and continued the tradition of issuing it in various classes. The Iron Cross was awarded for bravery in battle as well as other military contributions in a battlefield environment.
This is a Iron Cross Second Class 1939. Standard issue three piece construction cross with magnetic Iron core. The black Iron core has 99% of the black paint still intact and also most of the bright silver finish intact to the frames. The cross is complete with intact medal ring, suspension ring and long medal ribbon and comes with maker marked issue evelope. The envelope is in good condition and shows some age fading to the front side.
